Minnesota H1N1 Pandemic Summit: Minnesota Dept. of Health, Monday Sept. 14, 2009.  8:00 am - 12:30 pm, Earle Brown Heritage Center, 6155 Earle Brown Dr., Brooklyn Center, MN.  FREE registration. "The Summit will feature presentations by Dr. Ruth Lynfield, State Epidemiologist, and Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy. Together they will provide local, national, and global perspectives on the threat. Critical issues such as vaccine and antiviral distribution, common questions and concerns from the public, and communications during a response will be covered. Panel Discussion about the Republican National Convention; Tues., March 11, 7:00 pm, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave. So., Minneapolis.  Panel discussion about the upcoming RNC in the Twin Cities, its' potential impact on the community, and what faith groups can do to prepare.  Panelists included Asst. Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Ridgedale Library, Robert Rohlf Room.  This in-depth training will cover topics such as active listening, recognizing normal stress responses, self-care, and building your cultural, communication and referral skills.  Our speaker is Don Sheldrew, Special Populations Planner at the Minnesota Dept. of Health.  Click here for flyer and information on how to register. 

ECHO Meeting on Thursday, January 17, 2008, 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Hennepin County Medical Center, Room RL100 (lower level).  Are you a leader in a faith organization that is providing services to limited English proficiency community members?  If so, you won't want to miss this meeting!  Lillian McDonald, Executive Director of ECHO (Emergency Community Health Outreach) will tell us about the program and how you can receive life saving emergency information in a variety of languages: Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Khmer, Vietnamese or Laos.  Click here for more information and registration. 

Care for the Deceased Planning on Monday, January 14, 2008, 9:00 - 10:00 am at Brookdale Library Meeting Room C.  Please join us to hear Timothy Koch, Disaster Mortuary Emergency Response Team Member, speak about the planning that is being done to effectively respond to emergency situations in which death tolls overwhelm local mortuary resources.  After Timothy speaks, we will take some time to discuss how this type of situation could impact current methods of dealing with deaths, funerals and faith organizations.  Please contact Andrea Petersen at 612.348.4463, andrea.petersen@co.hennepin.mn.us  by January 7, 2008 to register for this event.  *Note: this presentation and discussion will take up the first hour of the N/NW Faith Emergency Planning Workgroup meeting.
